Dunhuang City is located at the westernmost end of the Hexi Corridor in China. It has been the hub where the eastern and middle sections of the Silk Road meet since ancient times. In 1986, it was named a "Famous Historical and Cultural City in China" by the State Council. Main attractions: Mogao Grottoes, Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Moon Spring, Yangguan Ruins, Yumenguan Ruins, and Sanwei Mountain Scenic Area.
